Mick Jagger is an undeniable and absolute rock ’n roll legend. The bad boy of the British music scene in the 60s and 70s and frontman of The Rolling Stones has long since cemented his icon status alongside the likes of powerhouses such as Freddie Mercury, John Lennon and David Bowie. Known for his singular tone of voice and unique dance moves, Jagger has found fans across generations and doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
Born on July 26, 1943, Jagger grew up in Dartford, in the United Kingdom, where he showed an interest in singing from a young age. “I always sang as a child. I was one of those kids who just liked to sing. Some kids sing in choirs; others like to show off in front of the mirror. I was in the church choir and I also loved listening to singers on the radio — the BBC or Radio Luxembourg — or watching them on TV and in the movies,” Jagger said in the biography “According to the Rolling Stones,” as reported by Reader’s Digest.
He studied at the London School of Economics before a chance reconnection with a primary school friend by the name of Keith Richards changed the course of his life forever. After bonding over a shared love of rhythm and blues, the pair began to meet to experiment with playing music together. By 1962, he and Richards, alongside their friend Brian Jones, had moved into an apartment in Chelsea, London, together and began to take a possible future in music seriously.
Even with a career in music in his sights, Jagger continued to pursue his business studies on a government grant with the hopes of becoming either a journalist or politician should his musical ambitions fall through. However, according to Christopher Andersen’s biography, “Jagger,” he abandoned this plan after he began getting gigs as doing both “seemed like too much hard work.”
This prompted Jagger to give his full attention to music. As their singer, Jagger joined Richards and Jones, both on guitars, for their first appearance under the name the Rolling Stones at a London jazz club in July 1962. By the next year, they had gained enough clout to start playing sold-out gigs. After landing their first two No. 1 hits in the UK in 1964, Jagger and Richards began writing their own songs for the band. They scored their first global hit with a song they worked on together called “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
Across the band’s spectacular 60 years together, they’ve released some of the most enduring rock ’n roll classics, including “Paint It Black,” “Honky Tonk Woman,” “Sympathy For The Devil,” “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” and “Gimme Shelter.” One of the best-selling acts of all time, The Rolling Stones has won several Grammys and a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2004. They frequently top the rankings of best bands of all time by top music publications.
As the band released a string of chart-topping albums, their reputation as party-heavy troublemakers began to rise. Alongside this was Jagger’s own reputation for attracting female attention, and the press began to speculate on his romantic dalliances and chart his every move to get the inside scoop.

Despite his string of relationships, the rockstar had only been officially married and divorced once to Nicaraguan-born actress Bianca Jagger in 1971. He later held a marriage ceremony with American model Jerry Hall, with whom he had been attached since the late 70s, in Bali, Indonesia, in 1990 but never had it officially recognized. Jagger made headlines when he began dating Sophie Dahl, the daughter of renowned author Roahl Dahl when she was 24,and he was 56 years old. He also dated fashion designer L’Wren Scott prior to her passing in 2014. She left her entire $9 million estate to him, which he used to set up a scholarship at London’s Central Saint Martins College.
The same year of Scott’s passing, Jagger began dating an American ballerina, Melanie Hamrick, and the pair welcomed a son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger in 2016, when the rockstar was 73 and Hamrick was 29 years old. Deveraux became Jagger’s eighth child after he fathered seven other children with four different women prior to little Deveraux’s birth. Among his most prominent children are jewelry designer Jade Jagger, model Georgia May Jagger and model and actress Elizabeth Jagger.
Hamrick, who met Jagger in New York while she was touring with the American Ballet Company, hung up her dancing when she fell pregnant with their son but continues to work on choreography. She also published her first book, an erotic fiction novel titled “First Position,” in September 2022.

With his blonde hair and blue eyes, Deveraux is the picture of childhood innocence. It’s clear he has also inherited his father’s distinctive looks, including the same full pout and downturned eyes.
On Dec. 8, 2022, the proud mother celebrated her son’s sixth birthday with a loving Instagram post filled with a carousel of photos. They showed just how much of a mini-Jagger Deveraux is growing up to be. The first picture was a portrait of Deveraux wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with The Rolling Stones’ signature lips and tongue logo in what appeared to be a recording studio. The second picture showed a beaming Deveraux on a theme park ride, while the third photo showed him being embraced by Jagger and Hamrick, who was also holding a colorful birthday cake. The last photo showed an ecstatic Deveraux waving as he enjoyed a fairground ride.
“Happy 6th Birthday to our WONDERFUL Devi 🥳🎉 Love you so much !!!!!” Hamrick captioned the post, followed by a string of red heart emojis. Prior to posting the beautiful family photos, Hamrick had incited rumors of upcoming nuptials to her rockstar beau when she posted a mirror selfie of her outfit for a night out on the town in November 2022. Eagle-eyed fans spotted a sparkling ring on her ring finger, setting tongues wagging. She captioned the photo, “A ballerina hairdo goes with everything.”
While there’s no official word yet on whether the legendary rockstar will walk down the aisle for a second time, watching Deveraux grow up in almost the same mold as his famous father appears to be keeping Hamrick and Jagger as happy as any parents could be.
